NINE WORDS WOMEN USE
(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It!

(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men . A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6) That’ s Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you’re welcome. (I want to add in a clause here – This is true, unless she says ‘Thanks a lot’ – that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say ‘you’re welcome’ .. that will bring on a ‘whatever’).

(8) Whatever: Is a woman’s way of saying get lost!

(9) Don’t worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking ‘What’s wrong?’ For the woman’s response refer to # 3.

The devastation in Haiti reminds us that our lives could completely change in an instant.

As we share thoughts, prayers and donations with the survivors as well as the tens of thousands who lost their lives, let’s also take a step back to look at our own lives.

Five days after the earthquake, a two year old was miraculously pulled from the rubble ALIVE. It brought tears to my eyes reading the article. And made me run to my own children to embrace them, to breathe in their scent, to relish the way they felt in my arms.

So today, how about hugging everyone you love who is still around? Experience gratitude for their presence in your life… while you still can.

So you made a resolution to lose weight this year- great job!

How’s it going? That good, huh?

Repeat after me: Fast eating is still eating.

There seems to be this logic (or, rather illogic) that, if we eat a “forbidden” food, it is not as bad if we eat it quickly. It’s like the opposite of the floodgates opening up. That hand keeps propelling from bag to mouth in an apparent ceaseless ricochet, trying to cram in as many chips as possible to squelch the guilt. There is minimal enjoyment. And it is almost as if the person believes it is the time of consumption rather that the caloric intake that contributes to weight gain.

Ever fallen victim to this?

Try this: eat mindfully. Want a cookie? Try truly savoring each bit. See how looooong it can take you to eat just one bite. Enjoy the smell, sound, texture, taste, thoughts and feelings associated with your treat. You and your waistline will appreciate it much more!

Well, 2010 is finally here. And I want to wish you a Happy New Year with a Happy New You.

Lots of people are throwing out various resolutions this time of the year: lose weight, start exercising, stop smoking, eat better. And all of these are certainly important.

Another great change for anyone is “Be Happier.”

And that is where this bog comes in. You see, it is my mission to help people have less stress and more happiness, regardless of what is going on in life.

Does that sound like something you might like?

Sure.

But maybe it sounds impossible for you right now. Maybe you are facing some challenges that you think prevent happiness from being a part of your life: relationship issues, job loss, financial strain, problems with your health, being overweight.

Maybe you think those things have to change in order for you to be happy.

I am here to tell you that is not true. You CAN be happier RIGHT NOW, even without anything else changing in your life.

How? Stay tuned to this blog and you will find out.

Want more now? Go to the Home page and sign up for the first chapter of my book “A Happy You: Your Ultimate Prescription for Happiness” to get started on your happiness resolution today.

Thanks for stopping by. Here’s to an even happier you!
